Gerry Oliver Award for Fibre Farming Excellence

Nomination 2026

Nominations are invited for the Gerry Oliver Award for Excellence in Fibre Farming, which recognizes fibre farmers who have made a significant contribution to wool/fibre production and the promotion of fibre breeds in Manitoba.

This award honours individuals who demonstrate leadership and dedication in fibre farming through the preservation of unique sheep/fibre animal  genetics, conservation of rare or at-risk breeds, and educational efforts that strengthen and promote fibre farming within their region.

Nominations will be accepted until April 30, 2026. Please see below for selection process and criteria.

The nominees will be evaluated by a committee made up of between 4-7 people who represent expertise and leadership within the fibre farming and wool community. The committee members are invited to participate by the board of the Manitoba Fibre Festival. The committee will evaluate each nominee based on their contribution in these areas:

  • Excellence in Fibre Production

  • Promotion of Breeds

  • Genetic Stewardship & Breed Conservation

  • Education & Knowledge Sharing

  • Contribution to Regional Fibre Farming

  • Overall Impact & Legacy
