Please note: as this position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
Must have reliable transportation to travel around the city and province for marketing events
Priority will be given to those candidates who are bilingual in English and French, please clearly indicate language abilities in your cover letter.
Marketing Coordinator
Time commitment: 35 hours / week
Salary: Hourly @ $20
Location: Remote - Local to Winnipeg, Manitoba; attend monthly planning meetings in person, must be in person September 6-13, 2026.
Job Dates: July 22, 2026 - September 16, 2026
Must be able to legally work in Canada
Reports to the Board of Directors - HR Team (Board Chair/Co-chair and Finance Lead)

Opportunity:
The Manitoba Fibre Festival is seeking a self-motivated person to manage and execute marketing of the 2026 Festival event happening at the Red River Ex September 11-12. The marketing coordinator will work remotely with little direct supervision but will be part of a vibrant and collaborative team. The marketing coordinator will be on-site leading up to and during the festival.
Social Media Tasks
Develop and execute pre-scheduled social media posts for Instagram and Facebook via Later (4-6 weeks in advance depending on season)
Use Canva to create new graphics/update graphics for upcoming year’s content
Communicate with other departments to confirm marketing needs
Develop content bank for reuse
Engage in a community-building way responding to comments/DMs according to MBFF’s brand voice, including passing along relevant messages via email to any Coordinators and/or recommending commenter gets in touch with general email account
Ensure any social media commitments for sponsors are respected
Translation of social media materials to French
Other Social Media duties as assigned
Other Marketing Tasks
Attend the entirety of the Manitoba Fibre Festival and capture images, video and other social media content of the festival and other promotional events before the festival
Manage and tour any media that attends the festival
Build a database of strategic partnerships, networks and opportunities for cross promotion and collaboration
Work with planning team to execute any content requests before and during the festival (such as photo booth, Thursday night mixer give-aways, etc…)
Posters and handbills delivered to key location in Winnipeg in the lead up to the festival
Attending St. Norbert Farmers Market, Medieval Festival, Icelandic Festival. MSA event to promote the festival
Tabling at events to promote the festival
Translation of festival materials as determined by supervisor
Requirements:
Between 15 and 30 years of age
Bilingual English/French
Knowledge of or ability to learn online platforms including, Canva, Instagram, and Facebook
Demonstrated proficiency with social media, content creation (photos and videos), and digital platforms
Willing to work with other departments to coordinate social media (including but not limited to Workshops, Vendors, Volunteers, and Fundraising)
Must attend festival planning meetings (typically bi-monthly in lead up to the event)
Reliable transportation to marketing events and final festival
Understanding or willingness to learn about wool and fibre in Manitoba to best represent the festival in public.
Physical Requirements:
The Manitoba Fibre Festival is a physical, hands-on festival. The incumbent will be required to walk on uneven ground throughout the Red River Exhibition Grounds and various marketing events. The incumbent will need to move promotional materials and small tables and chairs.
