THE TRIFECTA OF HANDSPUN YARN - Instructor Kara Perpelitz, SpinHeartSpin Handspun Yarns and Fibre Arts

$149.00

Friday, September 5th, 9am - Noon, 1 - 4pm (6hrs, with lunch break) $149

Harness the power of your spinning wheel to make your spinning more efficient and controlled. Based on my self-published book, The Trifecta of Hand Spun Yarn, this class covers three key areas that affect the yarn you create: Twist, Draft, and Tension. We will work through several exercises that will take your spinning from "default" to "by design", resulting in more even yarn and the ability to achieve different yarn weights. There will be a tiny bit of math, but not the scary kind!

Ages 16+, Must be a spinner and able to independently spin a singles yarn

Students Bring to Class: 4 ounces of Merino wool top, 4 ounces of Corriedale wool top. A spinning wheel, spinning wheel maintenance kit, 2-3 bobbins.

Price Breakdown: $5 Materials fee includes educational printouts, $144 registration fee

Kara Perpelitz is a Master Spinner (2017) and Fibre Artist who has lived in some part of Saskatchewan her entire life. When she first discovered hand spun yarns over 15 years ago, she certainly didn’t see it becoming a passion. This passion has led to writing, teaching, and creating art out of yarn. This passion for yarn lead to passion for fibre work in general. She explores the concept of place and connection through fibre arts, using manipulations such as spinning yarn, felting, dyeing, printing, sewing and more.
