Bring natural fibre to life with botanical color! Create a botanically dyed silk scarf using dried dye flowers locally grown at Almost Urban Vegetables in St. Norbert, Manitoba. Students will learn about preparing fabric for dyeing, which flowers and leaves are good for dyeing, and the botanical dyeing process on a 11" x 60" silk scarf.
Ages 14+
Students Bring to Class: An apron, if desired.

Marilyn Firth is a Manitoba fibre artist working with botanical dyes on natural fibres. She grows her own dye plants on her farm in St. Norbert, and strives to access fibre from sustainably sourced outlets. Her decades long fibre history includes working with botancial dyes, knitting, crocheting, and weaving.
