Learn the relaxing, slow-stitching art of Sashiko, a traditional Japanese technique used to reinforce and decorate cloth. Students will learn the basic Sashiko stitch and then apply it to a traditional Sashiko panel that they can use as a patch or garment embellishment.
Students Bring to Class: A small pair of sharp scissors
Price Breakdown: $68 materials fee includes Beginner Sashiko Kit (Sashiko instruction guide, needles, threads, leather thimble), Sashiko panel, handouts, $72 registration fee

Meet the Instructor: Leslie Gislason, Keystone Modern Creative
Leslie is the owner of Keystone Modern Creative, a small business in Winnipeg that supports the creative crafting community. She is a huge fan of Sashiko and Boro! In this fun and interactive class, students will start a Sashiko Panel that can be completed at home as well as practice Boro (Visible Mending) in class and leave with the knowledge and supplies to complete both projects! There will be lots of samples for students to view, touch and take pic of, if they are so inspired.

Workshop Cancellation Policy
A full refund will be issued if a workshop is cancelled by the Manitoba Fibre Festival for any reason, including instructor illness or low enrollment.
Student cancellations made by September 1st will be refunded the materials and registration fee, less a $10 admin fee. Withdrawals after September 1st will be refunded the materials fee only.
