WOOL CLEANING & CARDING with Simone LeBlanc
Friday, September 11th, 4 - 6pm, (2 hrs)
Learn the techniques our great grandparents used to produce usable fibre at home in an environmentally mindful and sustainable fashion. In this workshop you will be introduced to the techniques used to process locally sourced fibre from the farm to beautiful, usable fibre. We will start with washed, locally grown wool, together we will learn the steps in cleaning and carding wool. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with hand carding and drum carding techniques and equipment. Each participant will leave with their own clean carded wool, ready to be used in spinning, felting or batting.
Students Bring to Class: Participants are welcome to bring their own carders, if they have a set
Price Breakdown: $10 materials fee includes fleece, $48 registration fee

Meet the Instructor: Simone LeBlanc, Birch Bark Fibre Arts
Simone LeBlanc is a self-taught fibre artist living and has an interest in natural and locally sourced fibres in her exploration of various fibre crafts. Inspired by the Fibreshed and Slow Fashion movements, Simone strives to use sustainable materials in her fibre arts projects. Simone enjoys sharing heritage techniques and skills with others through workshops and demonstrations, to help keep this knowledge alive. These practices of processing and using materials sourced locally, ethically and sustainably are important lessons in today's world.

Workshop Cancellation Policy
A full refund will be issued if a workshop is cancelled by the Manitoba Fibre Festival for any reason, including instructor illness or low enrollment.
Student cancellations made by September 1st will be refunded the materials and registration fee, less a $10 admin fee. Withdrawals after September 1st will be refunded the materials fee only.
